Netherlands and into Germany

The town of Oldenburg was first founded as an ancient castle fortress prior to 1108. It sat on top of a rise above high tide mark. Additionas and renovations led to the current building being used since 1600 as the residence of the counts, dukes and grand dukes of Oldenburg.
